Explore innovative model and deepen reform

   to step up the development of the University

 

 

    On March 16, 2007, HMU Annual Summary and Recommendation Meeting was held in the Science and Technology Building. Present at the meeting were leaders of the university, heads of affiliated institutions, and teacher and student representatives. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Li Yukun.

President Yang Baofeng summarized the work in 2006 and put forward the tasks in 2007. The significant activities in 2006 include:

 

Ø        The Project 211 programs during the Tenth Five-year Plan period went through check-up for acceptance smoothly, and the Project 211 programs during the Eleventh Five-year Plan period were launched.

Ø        As the first medical university in China, HMU passed the pilot accreditation of basic medical education referenced according to the WFME global standards.

Ø        Grand celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the university.

Ø        Outstanding achievements were made in discipline development, teaching reform and faculty development.

Ø        Scientific research reached a higher level and a more active academic atmosphere was developing.

Ø        The quality of health care services in the affiliated hospitals was improved and their management level ameliorated.

Ø        The educational quality on Daqing Campus was improved and its educational capacity increased.

Ø        Capital construction was progressing steadily, in which the department of general services played its role.

Ø        The separation between the university and its enterprises was further facilitated.

Ø        International cooperation and exchanges were further strengthened.

Ø        The cultural atmosphere on the campus was further fostered and the students’ all-around quality improved.

Ø        The 18th Congress of Party Representatives and the Congress of Teacher Representatives.

Ø        Great achievements were made in various aspects such as personnel management, finance and archives.

 

President Yang Baofeng gave an account of the main tasks of the university for 2007.

Ø        Strengthen discipline development, with “Project 211” as its driving force.

Ø        Enhance management and talent development, and raise the overall quality of faculty and management teams.

Ø        Deepen the reforms in education and teaching, and further improve teaching quality.

Ø        Stick to the innovation in science and technology, and strive to take the lead in national key projects.

Ø        Improve the quality in health care services, and fend against commercial bribery.

Ø        Maintain the educational scale on Daqing Campus, and improve its quality in education and teaching.

Ø        Accelerate the construction of the campus to ensure a rapid development of the university.

Ø        Strengthen international cooperation and exchanges, and create a new situation with substantial cooperation.

Ø        Promote quality-oriented education, and develop students’ all-around abilities.

Ø        Continue to do a good job in the fields such as affiliated hospitals, library, finance and archives.


Professor Jiang Hongchi, Chairman of Academic Committee, extended his congratulations to the achievements of HMU made in 2006 in teaching, research, health care and management. In view of the current situation, Professor Jiang emphasized that focus should be put on talent development. The management level should be improved, the safety awareness be increased and the publicity about the university be strengthened. He said that the year 2007 would be an important year for the implementation of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan. HMU should adhere to the guiding principle of building HMU into a teaching and research-oriented university. All the faculty and staff will make further efforts to make HMU “first-grade in China and well-known in the world”.


Ms. Han Yuxia announced the commendations to the faculty members for the year 2006, which proved a fruitful year in teaching and research at HMU. On behalf of the prize winners, Professor Wu Kun gave a speech, expressing their determination for further contributions to the university.
