卫生微生物学学科依托于哈尔滨医科大学公共卫生学院卫生微生物学教研室，该教研室始建于1987年，1998年与卫生化学教研室合并，成立卫生检验学教研室，2005年恢复为卫生微生物学教研室。卫生微生物学学科现有教职员工5名，其中副教授3人，讲师2人。教师学历结构：博士5人，硕士1人。
教学方面：
自1988年起承担卫生检验学专业、预防医学专业以及卫生监督专业的微生物学相关课程的教学任务。现针对预防医学专业本科学生开设卫生微生物学理论课并结合实际应用开展预防医学基础实验教学。针对硕士研究生和博士研究生教学轨道开设卫生微生物学前沿进展、分子生物学和转化医学等专业课。曾开办针对卫生监督学本科学生的医院感染控制与消毒学课程。曾开办针对卫生监督学、临床和预防医学专业学生的选修课，包括：微生物学检验、细菌学检验，病毒学检验和免疫学检验。卫生微生物学教研室近十年来主编国家级规划教材人民卫生出版社《卫生微生物学》第六版、第七版和科学出版社《卫生微生物学》3部、副主编国家级规划教材1部，参编国家级规划教材8部，主审卫生部培训教材1部。
科研方面：
学科的主要科研方向为呼吸道病毒的分子生物学。招收二级学科流行病与卫生统计学，三级学科卫生微生物学专业的博士和硕士研究生。教研室主持完成国家自然科学基金项目6项，黑龙江省自然科学基金重点项目1项，厅局级项目多项；在研国家自然科学基金青年项目1项。曾荣获黑龙江省科学技术奖二等奖1项，黑龙江省医药卫生科技进步奖一等奖1项，发表学术论文多篇。
社会服务：
对外承揽食品、药品、饮用水和保健食品的微生物学和卫生学指标的检验工作。

Department of PublicHealthMicrobiology
The Department of Public Health Microbiology, School of Public Health, Harbin Medical University, was founded in 1987. In 1998, itwasmerged with the Department of Public Health Chemistryintothe Department of Public Health Inspection. In 2005, the Department of PublicHealthMicrobiology was restored as an independent department.
The Department of PublicHealthMicrobiology has5faculty members, including 3 associate professors and2lecturers.4members of this faculty have doctor degrees.
Since 1988, this department has undertaken the teaching tasks of microbiology-related majors in the discipline of Public Health laboratory science, preventive medicine, and health supervision. Accumulatively, the department has editor-in-chief of 2 national-level planning textbooks, and deputy editor-in-chief of 1 national-level planning textbooks, as well as participated in editing 8 national-level planning textbooks, while reviewed 1 training textbook for the Ministry of Health. The scientific research of this department is focusing on the molecular biology of respiratory viruses. Both doctoral and master's degree students in microbiology or related majors are welcomed to study in this department.
The Department of Public Health Microbiology has carried out and accomplished several important research subjects, including 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 Heilongjiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation key project, 1 Youth Fund project, and multiple department-level projects. This department has won the second prize of Heilongjiang Science and Technology Award, 1 first prize of Heilongjiang Medical and Health Science and Technology Progress Award. This department has published more than 50 academic papers, of which more than 20 were included by the JCR.
The department accept contracts for microbiology and Public Health inspection of food, medicine, drinking water and health food.
